What to do in Vione

Walking through Vione means discovering a rustic yet remarkably refined architecture, almost “cultured”, a unique case in the valley: the village and local area are full of finely crafted arches and windows, wooden structures and buildings with regular shapes. Among the places to visit are the Church of San Remigio, considered one of the richest in Val Camonica, and the Sanctuary of Cortaiolo, dating back to the 16th century and decorated with frescoes by Oscar Di Prata. The “El Züf” Museum preserves objects and testimonies of local rural life. To move from culture to nature, from the village you can reach the Canè Valley and continue on foot through the alpine landscapes of the Stelvio National Park.

The history of Vione

The medieval origins of Vione can still be seen along the village streets. The remains of the six towers that once defended the castle, along with ancient portals and porticoes, tell of the settlement’s importance in past centuries. Adding to these traces of history are the discoveries of Lombard tombs, which uncovered even older evidence of human presence in the area.
