Maybe you were wondering…
What are snowshoes and micro‑crampons?
Snowshoes are wide, elliptical frames that attach to your boots and, thanks to their larger surface area, allow you to walk on snow without sinking. Today they are widely used by hikers and mountain lovers, but they have ancient origins: they were once made of curved wood and woven leather cords. Modern snowshoes are built with lightweight materials and technical plastics and are equipped with small crampons to improve grip. Depending on snow conditions, the routes can also be tackled with micro‑crampons, which help prevent slipping and increase traction on compact snow and ice. They are made with an elastic rubber structure and small steel spikes or chains, featuring a quick‑fit system. Easy to wear and carry, they are particularly suitable for slippery terrain.
