"Vermiglio" dreams of the Oscar 2025

Pontedilegno-Tonale is living a unique moment of glory with Vermiglio, the film by Maura Delpero which has just won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Today's news is that the film has been selected by Anica to represent Italy at the 97th edition of the Academy Awards, in the International Film category. The film, which prevailed over 18 other titles, was chosen "for its ability to tell the rural Italy of the past, whose feelings and themes are made universal and current".

Now the next step foresees that "Vermiglio ” will compete to enter the shortlist of 15 feature films that the Hollywood Academy will release on December 17th. For the Oscar nominations, however, we will have to wait until January 17, 2025 and, if we dream big, the final appointment will be with the awards ceremony which will take place on March 2 in Los Angeles.
